Our Courses
Tackling diverse aspects of sustainability, the Master in Sustainable Development and Global Governance at UC3M (MASUS) offers a vanguard multidisciplinary training in the analysis of problems related to sustainable development and global governance. Due to its flexible structure and breadth of elective courses, it facilitates specialization in various areas of sustainability based on students' individual interests.
We are immersed in a time of massive challenges, as the world is facing an unprecedented climate crisis coupled with severe socio-economic problems. Such challenges need multifaceted, yet concrete measures to ensure environmental and socio-economic sustainability that are closely intertwined.
MASUS offers conceptual and methodological training in different areas of sustainable development based on four modules:
Introduction to Sustainability which entails the main pillars of research on sustainable development;
Environmental Sustainability covering areas such as climate change, biodiversity, ecosystems, and environmental impact analysis;
Socioeconomic Sustainability, focused on issues like hunger, poverty, inequality, gender, and sustainable work;
Global Governance that analyses ‘the tragedy of the commons’, globalization, immigration and the geopolitics of natural resources, among other issues.
MASUS is designed on the premise that generating comprehensive solutions to the complex challenges that our society and planet face today necessitates both a substantiated understanding of the underlying scientific issues and an analysis of the relevant economic, legal, political, historical and social dimensions.
